PICKS: Orville Neeley
You probably know Orville best as frontman and guitarist of his raucous rock band OBN IIIs, but he does other stuff, too. He plays drums for the always great James Arthur's Manhunt and is a prolific recording engineer. He knows his stuff and he knows what he likes, and now you do, too:
GUITAR(S): Gibson SG Classic with P90s, Ovation GP Ultra, Fender Precision Bass (Japan)
AMP(S): Marshall 50W (Model 1987), 1970 Fender Super Reverb (blackfaced), Music Man 410 65, GK 800rb w/Peavey 2x15 cabinet (bass)
PEDAL(S): Occasionally an Ibanez DE7 delay, Green Big Muff, Jimi Hendrix Dunlop wah, Vox Wah,
STRINGS: D’addario Pure Nickel 10s, DR Tite Fit and Pure Blues 10s
PICKS: Clayton 1.00mm
Wanna add anything? - I’m not much for solos, but I’ll do em. Prefer playing fun rhythms at high volume. Open chords, bar chords, hammer-ons. Looking for a 70s Les Paul Deluxe in Cherry/Tobacco burst or natural finish. Preferably. Somebody should buy that Witchbanger amp [for sale in the Street-Legal shop]. Simple and sounds awesome.
Check out this video for OBN IIIs "No Time for the Blues," off their most recent album "Third Time to Harm". They'll release another full-length album in the fall of 2015!
The only upcoming show I could find is a new side project called BLAXXX, who is making what seems to be their debut live performance at Beerland on Saturday, April 18. It features Orville on bass, Tom Triplett (of OBN IIIs) on guitar, and Lamont Thomas of Obnox on drums and vocals. WHAT.
Buy the 12" EP they improvised in just a couple of hours direct from 12XU (they've also got some at Trailer Space Records):
